Getting the community and families involved is the best way to get students involved! Parent support is so important at our school and we have gotten creative in figuring out how to connect with the middle school student and their parents. Here are a few ways we have found that works best in our program!
Community art showEvery year we put on an art show called 'Caffeinated Colors'. This art show features student artists and their work in a local coffee shop. The work they create is exhibited on an opening night. Students and their families are invited for an evening of art and music provided by the middle school orchestra students. It is a night students look forward to all year! Below is the flyer!

online portfolioArtsonia is an online portfolio we use to exhibit student work. Artsonia has the ability to share a student's art portfolio with others across the world! Family and friends can comment on artwork and order items with their student's artwork printed on it! Funds go to the school and we are able to purchase items for the art department. This site tracks their artwork from elementary through high school and builds a wonderful art portfolio! Check the site out here -----> Artsonia

family art nightOnce a trimester we host a family art night. The event invites students and their families to come for an evening of art making. We present a project to the guests and then they collaborate on a work of art either together as a group or they each create their own. It is amazing to see the problem solving and bonding that happen at these evenings! It is a great way to bring families together and to get to know your students! Below is the flyer!
